Qatar Warns Iran of Possible Retaliation After Missile Strikes

David Egbede, March 26, 2026

Qatar has reportedly threatened retaliation against Iran after repeated drone strikes on its territory during the US-Israel–Iran conflict.

According to Hind Bint Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, Qatar’s UN representative in Geneva, the attacks breached the nation’s “territorial integrity” and contravened the UN Charter.

“These attacks amount to a great source of concern for us, and we can no longer remain silent.

“Attacks launched by Iran with grave repercussions are not only affecting peace and security in the world, but also human rights,” she said, condemning the drone and missile attacks.

“To attack the electricity and desalination plants also involves serious environmental consequences and undermines rights that should be guaranteed by human rights provisions,” she added.

The Qatari representative also noted that the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz is “a source of great concern, given the dire consequences it can have on the economy and supply routes.”
