‘We Will Revive Kano’s Strength’ – Peter Obi Targets 2027 Comeback

David Egbede, March 23, 2026March 23, 2026

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited Kano on Sunday to meet with ex-Governor and political heavyweight, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The meeting at Kwankwaso’s Miller Road residence also included Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, activist Naajatu Mohammed, and other notable figures.

Speaking to the crowd at the annual Kwankwassiya Sallah festival, Obi stressed that his visit was to celebrate the festival and honor Kwankwaso, while also highlighting his broader vision for Kano’s revival.

“We want to change Kano, build a new Kano, and bring back its economic and industrial power—from Bompai factories to Sharada and the Bank of the North,” he said.

The gathering has sparked speculation about a potential political realignment in the region, including Kwankwaso’s possible move from NNPP to ADC.

Obi’s visit signals a renewed commitment to economic revival and stronger northern alliances.
