The Abia State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Don Norman Obinna, has warned that low membership registration in the South-East could jeopardize Peter Obi’s chances of securing the party’s presidential ticket.
Speaking in Umuahia, Obinna urged party members and Obi’s supporters to participate actively in the ongoing online registration exercise.
He noted that Abia currently has about 400,000 registered members, far behind Adamawa State, which is nearing one million.
He stressed that without stronger numbers in the region, Obi may struggle to win the ADC primary, calling for increased mobilization and commitment from supporters.
“It is not just about wanting Peter Obi to be President, the question should be how do we deliver Peter Obi.
“Even the ADC online registration, Abia is about 400,000 in the chart while Adamawa is about 1 million. If the primary election is conducted today, will Peter Obi win, that is my question,” he said.
He urged the members of COPDEM and ADC members at large to drive the sensitization, insist on good governance and quality leadership.
Also speaking during the inauguration, the Chairman of COPDEM in Abia State, Prince Solomon and a House of Representatives aspirant for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency, Ogbonna Abarikwu charged Nigerians to reject bad leadership.
