Filmmaker and media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has unveiled a fresh wave of talent joining the highly anticipated film adaptation of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, set to premiere this December.
The new cast members were revealed on Abudu’s Instagram, where she hailed the additions as bringing “energy, depth, and magic” to the project. Joining the ensemble are Faithia Williams, Damilola Adegbite, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Mike Ezuronye, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Maleek of Ikorodu Bois, and Mallu Marik.
The story, adapted from the acclaimed novel by Lola Shoneyin, explores the intricate dynamics of a polygamous household, delving into the rivalries, secrets, and power struggles among co-wives. Abudu’s adaptation promises to bring these tensions to life with a mix of humour, drama, and heartfelt moments.
This latest announcement expands an already notable lineup that includes Odunlade Adekola as Baba Segi, alongside Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye, Omowunmi Dada, Shaffy Bello, and Bisola Aiyeola.
Other cast members confirmed earlier include Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bolaji Ogunmola, Bimbo Manuel, Tina Mba, Daniel Effiong, Femi Branch, Rotimi Fakunle, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, and Constance Olatunde.
Producers say the adaptation will debut as a Christmas special, aiming to captivate both long-time fans of the novel and a new generation of viewers.
