Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 74-year-old man, Ikwuakalom Nwakoro Emeka, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after he was allegedly caught trying to smuggle 11 kilograms of cocaine to the United Kingdom.
The suspect was apprehended on Saturday while attempting to board a British Airways flight bound for Heathrow Airport in London. A search of his luggage reportedly uncovered blocks of cocaine wrapped in foil and balloons, hidden inside food items including ground dry pepper.
NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers for the arrests and seizures, noting that the agency remains committed to reducing both the supply and demand for illegal drugs nationwide.
