Real Madrid extended their lead in the second half when youngster Dean Huijsen scored the third goal in the 66th minute following a well-delivered cross.
Elche briefly reduced the deficit after an own goal from Madrid’s Manuel Ángel Morán in the 85th minute.
However, Madrid sealed the victory in style when Turkish midfielder Arda Güler scored a spectacular long-range effort in the 89th minute to make it 4–1.
The win keeps Real Madrid firmly in the race for the La Liga title, moving them within one point of Barcelona at the top of the table.
