Security was significantly heightened around the Kano State Government House amid reports that Governor Abba Yusuf plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A large number of security personnel, equipped with advanced vehicles, were deployed at strategic points in and around the government house. The heavily armed contingent included officers from the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Our correspondent noted the presence of sophisticated vehicles such as Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Hilux trucks belonging to both the police and DSS.

The state is currently abuzz with speculation over Governor Yusuf’s reported intention to leave the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the APC.
