Alleged ₦110.4bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello’s Trial to March 11, 12

David Egbede, March 11, 2026March 11, 2026

The trial of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, over an alleged ₦110.4 billion fraud continued on Tuesday at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

Justice Maryanne Anineh adjourned the case to March 11 and 12, 2026, for the continuation of trial proceedings.

Bello is being tried alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

At Tuesday’s sitting, prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, told the court that the matter was slated for the continuation of the cross-examination of the 10th prosecution witness, Olomotane Egoro, a compliance officer with Access Bank Plc.

During the cross-examination, defence counsel Paul Daudu, SAN, asked the witness to examine the statement of account belonging to Fazab Business Enterprise Limited, drawing attention to an entry dated June 24, 2022.

The witness confirmed that the transaction reflected an outflow of ₦20 million for the supply of educational materials.

“It was for the supply of educational materials in the sum of ₦20 million,” Egoro told the court.

Egoro also confirmed that ₦86 million was transferred from Fazab Business Enterprise Limited to Ejadams Essence Limited, but stated that he could not explain the purpose of the transaction.

“I cannot state the reason for the transfer,” he said.

When questioned further about several withdrawals recorded in the account, the witness said he recalled the transactions but could not determine their purpose.

He also told the court that he was unaware of any business relationship between Fazab Business Enterprise Limited and Hadassah Katriel Global Enterprise.

The witness, however, noted that many of the withdrawals were structured to fall below ₦10 million.

Asked whether a Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) had been filed in relation to the transactions and presented before the court, Egoro responded, “No, my lord.”

Following the proceedings, Justice Anineh adjourned the case to March 11 and 12, 2026, for the continuation of trial.
