Sevilla forward Akor Adams reached a new personal milestone after scoring in a 1–1 LaLiga draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker’s goal gave Sevilla an early lead and also marked a career-best tally for goal contributions in a single season across Europe’s top five leagues.
Leading the line at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Adams opened the scoring in the 14th minute, calmly finishing from close range following a precise cross from former Chelsea F.C. captain César Azpilicueta.
He nearly doubled Sevilla’s advantage moments later, producing a brilliant run past two defenders, though his final effort went wide. Sevilla held the lead until the break, but Pacha Espino equalized five minutes into the second half with a first-time strike set up by Fran Pérez.
Adams was substituted in the 67th minute for Isaac Romero, with the match ending in a stalemate.
Despite the draw, Adams’ goal was a personal triumph. It was his seventh league goal of the season, making him Sevilla’s top scorer this campaign.
The strike also took his total to 10 goal contributions in LaLiga this season—seven goals and three assists—surpassing his previous record of nine contributions set at Montpellier HSC in the 2023/24 season.
Adams has been in fine form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, and Sevilla will be counting on him to maintain his scoring run as they aim to climb the league table.
Currently 14th with 31 points from 27 matches, Sevilla sit nine points shy of the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spots and will rely heavily on Adams’ attacking output in the season’s final stretch.
