The intervention is aimed at strengthening practical training, boosting innovation, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Nigerian universities, particularly in engineering and technology disciplines.
The beneficiary institutions include the Federal University of Technology, Minna; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Federal University of Technology, Owerri; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University; Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi; and the Federal University of Technology, Babura.

To ensure effective implementation, a monitoring committee has been inaugurated to supervise the proposed engineering upgrade programme across the selected institutions.
The initiative forms part of the Tinubu administration’s broader push to reposition Nigeria’s higher education sector through improved infrastructure, industry-relevant training, and enhanced research capacity.
