Chelle Demands 24-Hour Electricity, $130,000 (N174Million) Monthly Salary

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has reportedly outlined several conditions in his proposed contract, including a request for 24-hour uninterrupted electricity at his residence, a monthly salary of $130,000, a private SUV with a chauffeur and security detail, as well as complete authority over team selection.

According to the proposal, the provision of constant electricity is essential to facilitate match analysis, coordination with technical staff, and effective monitoring of players’ performances. The contract reads: “House in a well-secured environment with 24hrs uninterrupted power supply (electricity).”


Chelle also requested a private car with chauffeur and GPS to facilitate movement during official duties. On this, the terms state: “Private car (SUV) with a chauffeur and security. GPS provision.”

The proposed agreement provides that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) issue formal working contracts for his technical staff and his personal assistant, with salaries to be paid on or before the 30th of each month, and with bonus and allowance structures. The terms specify: “The NFF has to issue a working contract for my staff.


Salary needs to be paid on or before the 30th of every month. Bonus and allowance as per federation structure.

“Request to include my PA in the bonus and allowance structure.” Chelle’s terms also cover technical and operational matters, including the right to select opponents for international friendly matches, travel to observe local and foreign-based players for possible integration into national teams, and structured camping programmes.

The proposal reads: “Based on opponents, the coach has the right of choice regarding int’l friendly matches. Provision for the coach to travel, watch, monitor and engage players of the national teams abroad.

Provision for the coach to travel to watch the local league to identify potential players that will be integrated into senior national team A, U23, U20 and U17. No interference in team selection and players call up.”

Other provisions include a furnished office with projector and internet access, flights for his wife and children, supply of technical equipment, and regular meetings with all national team coaches. The contract states: “Furnished office with projector for analysis. Internet provision. Flight tickets for wife and two children (Eric and wife Business class) Children economy.

Supply of proper equipment in accordance with the coach’s demand. Monthly meeting with all the national team coaches.
Proposed salary of $130,000.00 (One hundred and thirty thousand dollars) monthly. This amount includes all my technical staff and PA.”
