Plateau FA to  boost  grassroots football with equipment, coaching courses

David Egbede, January 7, 2026

The Plateau State Football Association (PFA) has announced that it has finalized plans to offer technical support to grassroots football teams, aiming to usher in a new era of football development in the state.

PFA Chairman, Suleiman Kwande, made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that match balls, jerseys, and training equipment would be distributed to teams across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

“This programme is about giving every talented youth a fair platform to express themselves and grow through football,” Kwande said.

The former NFF board member urged coaches to register for the upcoming technical training course organised by the association.

“We are investing in our coaches because better coaching means better players and a stronger football structure in Plateau,” he said.

Kwande announced new competitions, which include five-a-side football, beach soccer, and a female football cup, to complement the FA Cup and Governor’s Cup.

“These competitions will widen participation, encourage inclusiveness, and expose our players to modern football trends,” he added.

He commended Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau for the financial support and pledged collaboration with corporate bodies to improve football development in the state.
