The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has declared that Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by God.
Adeboye made the statement during a workers’ meeting at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, stressing that the outcome of the election ultimately lies beyond human control.
“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.
The cleric urged Nigerians not to be anxious over political developments, noting that while civic participation is important, divine will remains supreme.
“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” he added.
Adeboye called on citizens to remain prayerful and peaceful as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We should do our part, but we should also keep on praying and trust God. That is what is satisfying to me,” he said.
He also reacted to comments by Isaac Omolehin, who described him alongside David Oyedepo and William Kumuyi as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.”
Adeboye dismissed the description, clarifying that he does not see himself as a father figure to all Christians in the country.
“I don’t want to be father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That’s enough assignment for me,” he said.
He emphasised that leadership of Christians in Nigeria rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), noting that its president serves as the recognised leader of the Christian community nationwide.
Adeboye also dismissed claims circulating on social media that the church is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress, insisting that the RCCG remains non-partisan.
He added that while politicians are free to attend services, they would not be allowed to use the altar for political campaigns.
The cleric further stated that he would participate in any peaceful protest called by CAN over governance issues, recalling that he had taken part in protests during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeboye maintained that his stance on national issues is guided by principle rather than political affiliation.
