Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have thrown their weight behind Senator Sharafadeen Alli as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The decision was reached during a strategic meeting held in Ibadan, bringing together key stakeholders and party figures from across the state’s five geopolitical zones.
Senator Hamzat Adeseun, speaking at the gathering, said the endorsement followed wide consultations and aligns with the position of President Bola Tinubu. He stressed that the President’s influence as party leader remains significant in determining the party’s direction.
“Mr. President remains the leader of our party, and his opinion on who flies the party’s flag must be given due consideration,” Adeseun stated.
Also speaking, APC chieftain Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle confirmed that discussions with President Tinubu further solidified support for Alli’s candidacy. He urged other aspirants to unite behind the consensus decision in the interest of party cohesion and victory in 2027.
