Yobe APC Stakeholders Back Wali as Preferred Gov Candidate

Soliu Oyesiji, April 30, 2026

Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State have named former Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The decision was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Mamman Mohammed.

The forum described Wali as “a seasoned technocrat with the adequate qualification, patience and temperament for good leadership and governance.

“He has been an active player in various administrations in the state for many years, which qualifies him for the continuity of the mission and vision of the state development plan,” the statement said.

The stakeholders also reaffirmed the party’s earlier decision to adopt a consensus mode in selecting its candidates for the 2027 elections.

“The party at its stakeholders meeting last week agreed to produce its candidates through the consensus mode of election,” it added.

In the same vein, the forum endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the APC’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Mai Mala Buni and Chairman of the stakeholders’ forum, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, said the party would continue consultations to strengthen unity and cohesion ahead of the polls.

“The party will continue to engage in dialogue to entrench unity within its ranks,” they said.
