Kobbie Mainoo Agrees New Long-Term Deal at Manchester United Until 2031

Soliu Oyesiji, April 28, 2026April 28, 2026

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has reached a full agreement to sign a new long-term contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2031, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The England international, who had been linked with a possible departure from the club during the summer and January transfer windows after falling out of favour under former manager Ruben Amorim, has re-established himself in the squad following the arrival of interim boss Michael Carrick.

Romano reported on X that all terms of the deal have now been finalised, with only formal signing and announcement remaining.

“BREAKING: Kobbie Mainoo has agreed all terms of new contract at Man United, all set to sign! The agreement will be valid until June 2031 with increased salary… it will be official before the end of the season,” Romano wrote.

Mainoo’s current contract was due to run until 2027, but the new agreement significantly extends his long-term commitment to the club where he came through the youth ranks.

Negotiations between his representatives and Manchester United officials had reportedly been ongoing for several weeks before the deal was concluded.

The development is expected to be welcomed by supporters, particularly given Mainoo’s resurgence in form under Carrick, who has restored the midfielder to a central role in the team.

Since his return to regular action, Mainoo has delivered a series of strong performances, including in United’s recent 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League.

Speaking after that match, Mainoo expressed his satisfaction with his current form and role in the squad.

“I’ve loved every minute of it, especially under the boss now. Just feeling the confidence,” he said.

His performances have also earned him a recall to the England national team in recent international fixtures, further underlining his growing influence.

With experienced midfielder Casemiro expected to depart in the summer, Mainoo is widely seen as a key figure for United’s future midfield structure, with the club reportedly preparing to place greater responsibility on the young star heading into next season.
