The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has announced a detailed timetable for its ward, local government, state congresses, primaries, and national convention ahead of the 2027 elections.
The decisions were reached during the party’s 25th NEC meeting held at its national secretariat in Abuja, where members ratified the full schedule for internal party activities.
According to the party, ward congresses will hold on May 21, 2026, followed by local government congresses on May 22, and state congresses on May 23.
Primary elections are scheduled as follows:
House of Assembly – May 24
House of Representatives & Senate – May 25
Governorship – May 26
National Convention & Presidential Primary – May 30
The party also released its nomination fees: House of Assembly – ₦1.5 million, House of Representatives – ₦3 million, Senate – ₦8 million, Governorship – ₦20 million, and Presidential – ₦50 million, while expression of interest forms will be free.
In a move to encourage inclusion, the NEC approved a 50% discount on nomination fees for youths under 40, women, and persons living with disabilities.
For Anambra State, the party zoned the position of State Chairman to the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while the State Secretary position remains in the Southern Senatorial District.
The NEC further stated that all elections within the party will be conducted using both consensus and direct primary methods, in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
