UEFA has handed Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni a six-match suspension following a controversial incident during the Champions League encounter against Real Madrid in February.
The European football governing body stated that the Argentine was sanctioned for “discriminatory (i.e. homophobic) conduct.” It added that three of the six-match ban have been suspended, subject to a two-year probation period.
UEFA also warned that any further breach of its disciplinary rules within the probation period could lead to the suspended matches being enforced in addition to any new sanctions imposed.
