President Bola Tinubu is holding a meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which was initially slated for 4 p.m. at the Council Chamber, eventually commenced around 5 p.m. after it was moved to the Conference Room of the President’s Office.
Among those in attendance are Governors Babagana Zulum, Hope Uzodimma, Inuwa Yahaya, Hyacinth Alia, Biodun Oyebanji, Peter Mbah and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alongside other party governors, while some states are represented by their deputies.
As of the time of filing this report, the agenda of the meeting had not been made public.
The development comes less than 24 hours after the president held an emergency closed-door session with the leadership of the Senate.
Briefing journalists after that meeting, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele said critical decisions were reached.
“Far-reaching decisions were taken on matters of urgent national importance,” he said, noting that the outcomes followed deliberations at a prior executive session of the Senate.
Details of the ongoing meeting with governors are expected to emerge later.
