Adeleke Unveils 52-Member Campaign Council Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

Soliu Oyesiji, April 21, 2026

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is set to inaugurate a 52-member campaign council as part of moves to strengthen his re-election bid ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The campaign body, named the Imole Campaign Council 2026, is designed to coordinate political strategy, grassroots mobilisation and overall electioneering activities across the state.

According to information released via the state’s official X handle, the council will be formally unveiled on April 22, signalling the commencement of full-scale campaign operations.

A senior campaign official described the structure as central to the governor’s second-term ambition.

“This is a carefully designed framework to ensure seamless coordination, strong grassroots engagement and a unified campaign direction,” the official said.

The council draws members from across the political spectrum, including party leaders, technocrats and grassroots mobilisers, in what insiders say is an inclusive and broad-based arrangement.

Leading the team is Chairman of Council, Osun State University, Wale Ladipo, who will serve as chairman of the campaign council. Senate Minority Leader, Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi, has been named Director General, while Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, will function as Deputy Director General.

Other key appointments include Pelumi Olajengbesi as spokesperson and Bola Ajao as secretary.

The Media and Publicity Committee will be led by Bamidele Salam, while former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti, will head inter-party relations.

A campaign aide said the composition reflects a deliberate blend of experience and political strength.

“We are bringing together tested politicians and professionals to deliver a coordinated and effective campaign,” the aide said.

Beyond the central council, the structure extends to all tiers of political engagement, with campaign committees to be established across the nine federal constituencies, 30 local government areas, and 332 wards in the state.

A political analyst in Osogbo noted that the early rollout of the structure points to a strategic push for voter mobilisation.

“This signals a well-organised approach aimed at consolidating support across all levels ahead of the election,” the analyst said.

With the inauguration of the council, Adeleke is expected to formally kick off his re-election campaign, intensifying political activities across the state in the coming months.
