The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has paid a historic courtesy visit to the national headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation.
The visit, described as the first of its kind, focused on deepening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC as part of efforts to reinforce the country’s internal security framework.
Addressing the Commandant General of the corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers, Disu said the engagement was a deliberate step to enhance synergy between the two agencies, noting that both share the responsibility of safeguarding national security.

He stressed the need for intelligence sharing and coordinated operations, especially in the face of evolving security threats across the country.
“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front to achieve lasting peace,” the IGP said.
In his response, Audi reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the police, adding that the corps has a long history of collaboration with the force and is prepared to build on it.
The NSCDC boss identified collaboration, cooperation and coordination as critical pillars for effective security operations, while also urging citizens to take a more active role in intelligence gathering and sharing with security agencies.
