Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended his nephew, music star Davido, for elevating the profile of the state and the Adeleke family on the global stage.
He made the remark following Davido’s performance at the 2026 Coachella music festival in California, United States, where the singer paid tribute to his hometown, Ede, by delivering a traditional Yoruba “oríkì” to the audience.
The governor shared a video of the moment on social media, capturing a vibrant scene of lights and dancers as the chant resonated with thousands of fans. He described it as a proud milestone for both the family and Osun State.
“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido is putting the family, our heritage, and state on the global map,” he wrote.
Davido was the only Nigerian act billed for this year’s festival. His performance featured several hit tracks, including Dami Duro, Skelewu, and Aye, and he also brought out Adekunle Gold to perform their collaboration High together.
