The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commended the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) for its sustained commitment to the welfare of police families across Nigeria.

The commendation came as the IGP received the POWA President, Olufumilola Mutiat Disu, and her delegation during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In her remarks, the POWA President emphasized that the strength of the police force is closely tied to the well-being of officers’ families, noting that the association remains committed to promoting healthy and supportive family structures within the force.

Speaking during the visit, the IGP described the engagement as a demonstration of solidarity, praising POWA’s role in supporting officers’ families and easing the challenges associated with police service. He noted that the association continues to nurture officers’ children and promote stable home environments.

The visit also highlighted POWA’s repositioning agenda, which includes the nationwide rollout of a free eye care initiative, expansion of welfare programmes, and increased focus on mental and emotional support. Other priority areas include economic empowerment, youth development, and the promotion of national unity.

The IGP further urged members of the association to strengthen collaboration and enhance welfare structures aimed at improving the overall well-being of police personnel and their families.
