Soliu Oyesiji, April 14, 2026April 14, 2026

At least seven people, including students, were injured after a gunman opened fire inside a high school in south-eastern Turkey on Tuesday, according to local reports.

The incident occurred in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa Province, where the attacker, reportedly armed with a shotgun, entered the school and began shooting.

Reports by Demirören News Agency indicated that the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

“The suspect entered the school and fired indiscriminately, injuring several people,” the report stated.

Authorities said the gunman remained inside the premises after the attack and was refusing to surrender despite repeated warnings from security operatives.

“Efforts are ongoing to persuade the attacker to give himself up peacefully,” officials said.

Security forces have since cordoned off the area, while emergency responders were deployed to attend to the injured.

Details regarding the condition of the victims and the identity of the suspect were yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
