2027 Politics Heats Up: Atiku Fires Back at Tinubu Over Credentials, Policy Claims

David Egbede, April 17, 2026

The political tension ahead of 2027 continues to escalate as Atiku Abubakar takes a swipe at Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of hypocrisy and distorting facts.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described Tinubu’s recent comments as a “reckless tirade,” questioning the president’s credibility to criticize others given lingering concerns over his own academic records.

The former vice president also defended his role in Nigeria’s privatization efforts, insisting they were transparent and structured, unlike what he termed the current administration’s “opaque commercialization” of national assets like the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Atiku further argued that Tinubu had once opposed reforms he now appears to be implementing, stating, “You cannot oppose reform when it demands courage and then execute a shadow version of it in power.”

The exchange marks another sharp turn in the growing war of words between both political heavyweights as the race toward 2027 gradually takes shape.
