R&B sensation Tems has revealed the tough beginnings of her music career, recalling a time when she faced rejection and hostility while performing at a school event. The singer, known for hits like Crazy Tings, shared that instead of applause, she was met with boos and plastic bottles thrown at her.

Speaking in an interview with Big Boy Tv, Tems described the moment as a stark reality check for an aspiring artist. “I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer, and I thought I was going to receive a standing ovation… instead, they booed me and threw bottles,” she said.

Despite the harsh reception, Tems said the experience taught her resilience and reinforced her commitment to her craft. She noted that overcoming such challenges shaped her mindset, helping her navigate the competitive music industry with confidence and determination.

Today, Tems is celebrated globally for her unique sound and artistry, performing on major stages and collaborating with international stars.

She has since become one of Nigeria’s most influential contemporary musicians, inspiring a new generation of artists navigating the competitive music industry.
