Formula 1 teams are set to usher in a new era of the sport when they begin unveiling their 2026 cars in January, ahead of a highly anticipated season that gets under way in March. With sweeping technical changes on the horizon, the traditional car launch calendar is expected to draw more attention than ever as teams reveal not only their new challengers, but also their ambitions for a regulation-reset season.
The 2026 Formula 1 campaign marks the introduction of new technical regulations aimed at improving efficiency and racing quality. Among the most notable changes are slightly smaller and shorter cars, alongside major updates to power unit technology, sustainability targets, and aerodynamic philosophy. As a result, car launches will offer fans and analysts their first glimpse into how teams have interpreted the new rules.
Teams are once again turning launches into major events, combining car reveals with driver line-ups, branding changes, and bold statements of intent for the season ahead. Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls were the first outfits to confirm their launch plans, making history by announcing a joint car unveiling for the first time. The event, scheduled for 15 January in Michigan, USA, will be held in collaboration with Ford, marking the beginning of a high-profile technical partnership.
Audi, competing under its own identity following the transition from Sauber, will unveil its 2026 challenger in Berlin, Germany, as the manufacturer continues to strengthen its presence in Formula 1 ahead of its full factory involvement. Meanwhile, newcomers Cadillac are taking an unconventional approach, opting to reveal their livery during a Super Bowl television advertisement in early February a move that highlights Formula 1’s growing appeal in the United States.
Several teams have chosen European venues tied closely to their heritage. Ferrari will launch its new car in Maranello, while Alpine are set to unveil theirs in Barcelona ahead of pre-season testing at the end of January. Aston Martin, meanwhile, will wait until 9 February to reveal their 2026 contender.
In a break from tradition, Honda will host its own standalone event on 20 January in Tokyo, where it will unveil the power unit it is developing for Aston Martin underlining the significance of engine development under the new regulations.
Some teams, including McLaren, Mercedes, and Williams, are yet to announce their official launch dates, with further details expected in the coming weeks.
