Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has forwarded three nominees to the Adamawa State House of Assembly for approval as commissioners.
The submission came on Tuesday, just one day after the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, publicly announced his resignation.
Adamu Atiku had stated in his resignation letter that he was quitting Fintiri’s cabinet “after deep reflection and careful consideration” without giving any specific reason.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly received three commissioner nominees: Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Muhammed Suleiman (Mubi North LGA), and Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA).
Governor Fintiri submitted the nominations in separate letters, which were read on Tuesday by the Speaker, Bathiya Wesley. The Speaker instructed the Assembly clerk to summon the nominees to appear with their curriculum vitae on Monday, March 9, 2026, for screening.
Last Friday, Adamu Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, was among three commissioners who declined to defect to the APC alongside Fintiri. The other two were Tijjani Maksha, Commissioner for Livestock Development, and Afraimu Jingi, Commissioner for Justice.
