Apapa Customs Records N2.93trn Revenue in 2025, Up 24.32% from 2024

David Egbede, January 8, 2026

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a revenue collection of N2.93 trillion in 2025, representing a 24.32 per cent increase over its 2024 performance.

The disclosure was made in Lagos on Wednesday by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman.

According to Oshoba, the revenue growth was driven by focused leadership, disciplined personnel, strategic deployment of modern trade facilitation tools, and improved compliance by importers, under the guidance of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi.

He explained that the command generated N2.93 trillion in 2025, compared to N2.36 trillion recorded in 2024 an increase of N573.29 billion. Oshoba noted that this achievement further reinforces Apapa Command’s position as the leading revenue-generating customs formation in the country.

Beyond revenue performance, the CAC revealed that the command intercepted 53 containers laden with illicit drugs and prohibited items in 2025. These included cocaine, Canadian Loud, tramadol, and expired pharmaceutical products, with a combined Duty Paid Value of N12.63 billion.

He added that the seized items were handed over to relevant agencies such as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further investigation and prosecution.

Oshoba commended importers, licensed agents, and port operators for complying with lawful trade procedures, noting that their cooperation significantly contributed to the improved revenue collection.

He also attributed the surge in revenue to the deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), also known as B’Odogwu, which has enhanced transparency, efficiency, and accountability across cargo clearance processes.

The CAC disclosed that the command strengthened trade facilitation through increased stakeholder engagement, including the rollout of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme and the One-Stop Shop (OSS) framework, both of which have accelerated the release of compliant cargo.

Looking ahead, Oshoba revealed plans to introduce the FS6000 cargo scanning system, a non-intrusive inspection technology capable of scanning up to 200 containers per hour.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained collaboration with terminal operators, shipping companies, licensed customs agents, freight forwarders, haulage operators, and the media to ensure transparency, compliance, and seamless trade operations at Apapa Port.

Expressing optimism for the future, Oshoba said 2026 is expected to deliver even stronger results through the full implementation of the B’Odogwu system, AEO and OSS initiatives, enhanced intelligence-led enforcement, and closer inter-agency collaboration.
