Afghan authorities have seized 50,000 stimulant tablets in eastern Nangarhar province and arrested 123 people in connection with drug smuggling activities in Kabul, the Ministry of Interior Affairs announced late Tuesday.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said countre-narcotics police, acting on a tip-off, discovered the tablets in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, and detained two suspects linked to the case.
In a separate operation conducted over the past seven days, police arrested 123 individuals across various parts of Kabul on charges of drug trafficking and distribution.
Authorities said they recovered more than 2,000 intoxicating tablets, 15 kilograms of hashish, as well as quantities of opium and methamphetamine from the suspects.
The operations were part of ongoing efforts by Afghan security forces to dismantle drug smuggling and distribution networks operating across the country.
