The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that armed individuals attacked its leadership during a political event in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement, the party said the incident occurred shortly after the formal declaration of former Labour Party governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, into the ADC.

According to the party, unidentified armed men allegedly trailed its leaders from the ADC Secretariat to the residence of former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun.
The ADC claimed that the attackers shot at the gate of the residence and damaged several vehicles.
Party officials described the incident as a possible attempt on the lives of its leaders.

There was no immediate confirmation from security agencies at the time of filing this report, and it remains unclear whether any injuries were recorded.
The police in Edo State have yet to issue an official statement on the alleged attack.
