The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano has allocated 60 per cent of its leadership positions to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters.
The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting where party members agreed on a power-sharing formula to shape the state leadership structure.
State Chairman, Musa Ungogo, confirmed that Kwankwaso’s bloc would take the majority share, while the remaining 40 percent would be distributed among existing members and new entrants into the party.
He noted that no specific position was earmarked for former Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna, but added that Gawuna, now aligned with Kwankwaso, would be accommodated within his camp.
Ungogo explained that the 40 percent share would go to a mix of political groups, including members from the Labour Party, PDP, some APC defectors, SDP members, and individuals previously not active in politics.
“One thing you can take home is that every group and every member is happy about the sharing formula. And secondly, all the positions that you will get from this congress today would be reached by consensus. There will be nothing to regret,” he said.
He further stated that the ADC is witnessing rapid growth in Kano, with an influx of members from various parties, including the ruling party and the PDP, as well as previously inactive political actors.
Ungogo described Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC as a significant boost, commending both state and national leaders for the party’s rising influence in Kano.
