Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has accused Nafiu Bala, a factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), of “commercializing his conscience” amid the party’s ongoing leadership dispute involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Melaye made the allegation while recalling that Bala attended the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting where INEC reportedly ratified the leadership of interim National Chairman David Mark, alongside Rauf Aregbesola and others.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday night, Melaye said the NEC meeting held on July 29, 2025, was attended by Bala and monitored by INEC.
He further claimed that Bala, who is now challenging the leadership, was part of the same meeting that endorsed the current structure.
He said: “On July 29, 2025 we had a NEC meeting that Nafiu was present. In that meeting the leadership of Aregbesola, David Mark and others were ratified.
“The one who has commercialized his conscience, the one was is laying claims now was present at that meeting, INEC was also present at that meeting.
“INEC monitored that NEC meeting; in August we wrote INEC to say that David Mark, Aregbesola are now occupying their positions though they were present and they certified receiving that.
“At that point from May 29, David Mark authentically became the National Chairman because NEC is the highest making decision body of the party, and Nafiu went to court on September 2, 2025.
“Meanwhile ratification of David Mark by INEC was done before September.
“If you ask me what the situation was before September 2nd, it was that David Mark was the Chairman of ADC and Nafiu resigned on May 17.”
