Jos Visit: ‘Vote them out’, Obi Says, Slams Tinubu’s Power Record

David Egbede, April 4, 2026April 4, 2026

Peter Obi has called on Nigerians to vote out Bola Tinubu in the next election, citing concerns over the country’s electricity situation.

Obi referenced Tinubu’s campaign promise, where he said, “If I don’t give you constant electricity in four years, don’t vote for me for a second term.”

Speaking via his X account, Obi recalled the President’s recent visit to Jos following the deadly attack in Plateau State.

According to him, Tinubu allegedly remarked during a brief airport stop: “You have no light here – I fly out in ten minutes.”

Obi criticized the situation, noting that “At a time when Nigerians are enduring days without power, our leaders cannot even stay a few minutes without it.”

He further argued that electricity supply has declined since 2023, stating that Nigeria now generates less than 4,000 megawatts on average despite higher tariffs.

Highlighting broader concerns, Obi added that Nigeria’s electricity consumption remains among the lowest in Africa, emphasizing the need for urgent reforms in the power sector.
