The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), along with his wife and son, bail of ₦500 million each. The decision was delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite on Wednesday.
The bail comes with stringent conditions, requiring the submission of documents for landed property and travel papers. The court also mandated that Malami and his sureties deposit their travel documents and seek court approval before leaving the country.
According to Channels TV, the Judge stipulated that the sureties must own landed property in Asokoro, Maitama, and Gwarinpa.
He further directed that the sureties submit their travel documents to the court. The court’s deputy chief registrar is tasked with verifying the property documents, and the sureties are also required to swear an affidavit of means.
In addition, Malami was ordered to deposit his travel documents with the court and is prohibited from leaving the country without prior court approval.
