President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that his administration is not pushing Nigeria towards a one-party system, emphasizing the importance of political plurality and opposition in a democracy.
Speaking on Friday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) 8th national convention in Abuja, Tinubu stated that the constitutional right to freedom of association must be protected, adding that strong opposition is vital for national progress.
“Let me reiterate, especially to those who often lament and misunderstand us. We do not seek a one-party state.
“As a statesman and political leader, I believe in a credible opposition—one that can challenge, question and help refine policies.
“That is how statecraft improves, and good governance is achieved. That is how nations advance,” he said.
