‘We’re Open to All’ — ADC Distances Self From Atiku, Obi, Others

David Egbede, March 26, 2026March 26, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that it is being positioned as a political platform for prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, or Rotimi Amaechi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, clarified that the ADC has not endorsed any aspirant and remains open to all interested candidates.

“We will not be pressured into taking an early stance,” Abdullahi said, noting that discussions around zoning and other strategic decisions are still ongoing.

He emphasized that the party is focused on building an inclusive movement rather than promoting the ambition of any individual.

“This is not about Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, or anyone else. Anyone interested in contesting under our platform is welcome,” he added.

Abdullahi also stressed that key decisions would be made at the appropriate time after consultations, while urging opposition parties to unite, warning that division could strengthen the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
