An Area Court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced one Miracle Pam to 12 months in prison for housebreaking and stealing a mobile phone valued at ₦126,000.
The presiding judge, Irene Pati, handed down the sentence after the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge but gave him the option of paying a ₦30,000 fine instead.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Inspector Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Division Police Station on November 25, 2025, by the complainant, Mr. Emmanuel Samuel.
Daniel said the complainant informed the police that the accused unlawfully entered his home with a dangerous weapon and stole his Infinix Spark 9 phone, valued at ₦126,000.
The prosecutor added that during the investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and that the stolen phone was recovered from him at the time of his arrest. He noted that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, 2017.
