Governor Seyi Makinde has linked the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to an alleged plan by Nyesom Wike to weaken the party in favour of Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Makinde made the claim on Sunday during a meeting with Bala Mohammed in Bauchi, stating that he was present at a meeting where Wike reportedly assured the president he would “hold down” the PDP for him.
He further argued that any party member aligned with Wike’s faction has effectively chosen to support Tinubu’s 2027 ambition. While stressing that individuals are free to back any candidate of their choice, Makinde urged such members to openly declare their stance.
According to him, although the Wike-backed group may have institutional support, his camp remains confident due to what he described as the backing of the people.
