JUST IN: Nasarawa senator Onawo dumps PDP

David Egbede, January 12, 2026January 12, 2026

Senator Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has formally withdrawn his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator made this known in a resignation letter dated January 10, 2026, which he addressed to the PDP chairman of Galadimawa Ward in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. According to him, the resignation took immediate effect.

In the letter, Onawo stated that his decision was driven entirely by personal reasons, noting that it followed careful consideration.

He expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership, members, and supporters for giving him the platform to serve, acknowledging the trust and cooperation he enjoyed throughout his time in the PDP. He also wished the party continued growth and success.

Onawo did not reveal his next political move. However, he has been linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), having reportedly attended the party’s meeting in July 2025.
