President Tinubu Approves Postings of 65 Ambassadors

Rejoice Ewodage, March 6, 2026March 6, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate—31 career and 34 non-career diplomats—to various countries and the United Nations, following their confirmation by the Senate in December 2025.

The postings include notable assignments such as Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Sen. Ita Enang to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, and Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, among others.

Career diplomats are also being posted to missions including Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, India, and Switzerland.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by media aide to the President, Bayo Onanuga.

Also according to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu, while France has confirmed Ambassador Ayo Oke.

Nominations for the remaining envoys have been communicated to the relevant countries in line with diplomatic protocol.

President Tinubu has directed the Ministry to immediately commence induction programmes for all ambassadors-designate and high commissioners, preparing them for their new assignments.

The Lake Chad Basin, Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Americas will now see the presence of Nigerian envoys tasked with strengthening bilateral ties, promoting Nigeria’s foreign policy interests, and safeguarding the welfare of Nigerians abroad.
