Obidient Movement Alleges Electoral Fraud, Calls for Justice After AMAC Election Violence

The Obidient Movement has condemned the results of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election held on Saturday, describing them as “a brazen assault on the very foundations of our democracy.”

In a press conference on Monday, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the movement, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating violence and intimidation to manipulate the outcome.

“Our agents on the ground were systematically targeted. They were harassed, threatened, and intimidated in a desperate attempt to silence them,” he said.

The Movement mourned the death of one of its agents, Mr. Musa Abubakar, who was reportedly killed while resisting an attempt to hijack ballot boxes.

“Mr. Musa’s death is not just a statistic. He was a husband, a father, a son, and a Nigerian who believed in a better future. His blood is on the hands of those who orchestrated this electoral fraud,” Yunusa said.

He also criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saying it “contributed to voter apathy by dividing polling units without informing the people, making it difficult for voters to locate their polling units. Many left in frustration, with only a 7% turnout”.

The Obidient Movement called for a full and transparent review of the election results and urged security agencies to bring the perpetrators, particularly those responsible for Musa’s death, to justice. Yunusa concluded, “This is no longer about one election. This is a fight for the soul of our nation. We call on all Nigerians, civil society, and the international community to stand with us against this electoral injustice.”
