David Egbede, May 1, 2026May 1, 2026

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, former APC National Chairman Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, and other party stakeholders in Kano have pledged N50 million toward the purchase of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.

The decision was reached during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House, where attendees unanimously adopted Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate.

According to a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the motion for Tinubu’s adoption was moved by Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi and received full backing from party leaders present.

Kano APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, explained that while the state chapter initially planned to fully purchase the forms, it instead agreed on a collective financial contribution in support of the President’s candidacy.

“We have agreed to contribute the sum of N50 million towards the purchase of the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Doguwa said.

Stakeholders said the endorsement reflects confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms, as well as their determination to secure victory for the party in 2027.

The meeting also reaffirmed Governor Yusuf as the party’s sole governorship candidate in Kano, emphasizing unity and cohesion within the APC ahead of the elections.
