NDLEA Nabs Suspected Drug Peddler in Kano

David Egbede, April 30, 2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has apprehended a suspect for allegedly peddling drugs at the Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano metropolis.

The agency detained the suspect during its ongoing raid code named “Operation Sharar Mafaka.”

This is contained in a statement by its spokesman Sadiq Maigatari, on Thursday in Kano.

He said the arrest followed credible intelligence, which led operatives to dislodge drug joints operating within the secretariat.

“On sighting NDLEA officers, the suspect climbed to the second floor of a building within the secretariat and jumped from behind the structure in an attempt to evade arrest,” he said.

Maigatari said the operatives detained the suspect and recovered parcels of marijuana from him.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been engaged in drug peddling for more than two years.

The statement quoted the NDLEA Commander, Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, as warning that the agency would not allow government establishments to serve as hideouts for illicit activities.

“This is a warning to all those that think government establishments can be used as a hideout for their illicit activities.

“Operation Sharar Mafaka” remained ongoing as the agency intensifies efforts to rid Kano State of drug distribution points and bring offenders to justice,” Yahaya-Lawal said.
