Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, ending months of speculation over his future and keeping him at Old Trafford until 2031.

The 21-year-old midfielder, a product of United’s academy since joining in 2014, has rapidly established himself as a key figure in the first team. He has already made 98 appearances for the club and etched his name into its recent history by scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup Final 2024. Mainoo also represented England national football team in the UEFA Euro 2024 Final.

Speaking after signing the deal, Mainoo expressed his deep connection to the club.

“Manchester United has always been my home this special club means everything to my family,” he said. “I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised the young midfielder, describing him as one of the most naturally gifted players of his generation.

“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system,” Wilcox said.

“We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours.”

Mainoo’s new deal is seen as a significant boost for United as the club looks to build a competitive squad around emerging homegrown talent.
