Adeleke Didn’t Squander State Funds – Osun Projects are Visible, Verifiable and World-Class – Spokesperson

David Egbede, April 28, 2026April 28, 2026

The Osun State Government has dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement against Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that all public funds are prudently managed and tied to tangible, people-oriented projects.

Speaking during an interview in Osogbo, the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described claims that the administration squandered trillions of naira as false and misleading.

He emphasized that governance under Adeleke is guided by value for money, strict adherence to procurement laws, and due process.

“Projects on which state funds are spent are verifiable and visible to the people of Osun State,” Rasheed said.

The spokesperson also debunked allegations that N92 billion was spent on feeding, calling the claim baseless.

“It is a lie from the pit of hell. Such accusations stem from mischief or financial illiteracy. The governor’s office comprises many agencies, just like attributing every kobo spent at the Presidency to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.

Rasheed further accused the opposition, including APC chieftain Remi Omowaiye, of undermining local professionals by criticizing the use of Osun-based engineers for major infrastructure projects.

“That position is professionally indefensible and a direct insult to competent Osun professionals delivering top-quality work,” he said.

Highlighting infrastructure development, the government maintained that projects across the state meet global standards and are visibly impacting residents.

“From roads to bridges, health centres to school upgrades, the quality speaks for itself. All our projects are top-notch and in line with best practices,” Rasheed added.

He listed key areas of government spending to include roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, technology, pensions, and water infrastructure, stressing that resources are being strategically deployed despite financial constraints.

On reforms, the spokesperson disclosed that the state has laid a legal foundation for power sector development through the newly signed electricity market law, with plans underway to establish a regulatory commission.

He also noted progress in digital transformation, stating that Osun now has an ICT policy, a tech innovation framework, and has domesticated the Nigeria Startup Act to drive youth-focused growth.

Rasheed cited achievements such as the establishment of the University of Ilesa and ongoing agricultural interventions, including tractor deployment and large-scale seedling distribution.

Referencing traditional validation, he noted that even the Ooni of Ife has acknowledged the spread of development across all local governments, describing it as evidence of inclusive governance.

“Osun has not squandered its allocations; our projects are verifiable and people-oriented,” he said.

The spokesperson added that despite challenges linked to local government funding disputes, the administration has delivered over 300 kilometers of roads, rehabilitated 200 health centres, and upgraded more than 100 schools.

“Governor Adeleke is delivering under very difficult circumstances, and the results are clear for all to see,” Rasheed concluded.
