The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has obtained the N50 million governorship nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 Ogun State election.
The forms were picked up on his behalf, signalling his formal entry into the race for the state’s top office.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, declared the process open on Tuesday in Abuja and presented the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Adeola’s representative.
The development comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across parties positioning for key contests.
According to the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
INEC has also fixed the period for party primaries, including the resolution of disputes, between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, while those for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026.
Adeola’s move is seen as part of early mobilisation within the APC as aspirants intensify efforts to secure party tickets ahead of the primaries.
