The race for the 2027 presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress gathered momentum on Tuesday as the party commenced the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms in Abuja.
The exercise, held at the Continental Hotel and the Ladi Kwali International Conference Centre, marked the formal start of the party’s internal electoral process ahead of its primaries scheduled for May 23.
In a key early move, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Rt. Hon. James Faleke, obtained the presidential nomination form on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signalling the kick-off of mobilisation efforts for the president’s re-election bid.
Faleke, a close ally of the president, was accompanied by senior party officials during the exercise, reflecting strong backing within the party structure.
The forms were presented to him by members of the party’s National Working Committee led by Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Abubakar Dalori, alongside the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.
Other party leaders present at the event included Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Duro Meseko; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Hon. Bawa Rijau; and the National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Aliele.
The commencement of the sale of forms signals the APC’s transition into full pre-election activities, following a brief postponement from the initially scheduled date.
