Police Recruitment Free, PSC Warns Candidates Against Fraud Ahead of Exams

Soliu Oyesiji, April 25, 2026

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has reiterated that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is free of charge, warning applicants to avoid fraudsters and job racketeers.

The commission issued the warning ahead of the written examination scheduled for April 28 to April 30 for candidates seeking enlistment as constables.

According to the PSC, the examination, conducted in collaboration with the NPF, will cover both general duty and specialist cadres and will take place at designated centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

In Lagos, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the exercise would hold at the Police College, Ikeja.

She quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Fatai Tijani, as urging candidates to comply strictly with guidelines and maintain order during the exercise.

“The PSC will not tolerate any form of fraud in the recruitment process. Anyone found engaging in such illegal activities will face the full weight of the law,” Adebisi said.

She explained that only candidates who successfully passed the physical and credentials screening would be eligible to sit for the examination.

Applicants are required to log on to the official recruitment portal from April 24 to print their examination invitation cards, which contain details of their schedule and venue.

Adebisi added that candidates must come to the examination centre with a pen, a National Identification Number slip issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), bearing a clear photograph, as well as their printed invitation slip.

“Candidates are expected to appear in white shorts, white T-shirts and white canvas shoes,” she said.

The PSC advised applicants to remain vigilant and report any attempt to extort money, stressing its commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
