Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party to the African Democratic Congress.

The lawmakers are Sani Wakili (Minjibir/Ungogo federal constituency), Muktar Zakari (Tarauni federal constituency), Umar Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam federal constituency), and Abdulhakeem Ado (Wudil/Garko federal constituency).

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, formally announced their defection during plenary on Wednesday after reading their notices.

The development marks a shift in party alignment within the Kano caucus of the lower legislative chamber, though reasons for the lawmakers’ decision were not disclosed at the session.
